2023-24 After School BACR Program

The registration link for the BACR After School Program will open Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 5pm. It can be accessed here.
As previously communicated, in partnership with our respective school leadership, we are committing to the following enrollment priorities in this order for 2023-2024 school year.

Unduplicated Pupil Percentage (UPP) mandate. UPP is defined by the California Department of Education as students who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals (FRPM), English learners (EL), and/or who are foster youth, and unhoused. This is a designation provided by CDE and not by your after school provider.
Returning students who were enrolled in 22-23
Siblings of returning students
Previously waitlisted students in 22-23
Class grouping and daily enrollment balance

Keep in mind, filling out this application DOES NOT guarantee your child a spot in the program. Additionally, the day and time you register does not affect your ranking status. You will receive notification of your child/childrens status no later than May 24th. We will work diligently to get you this information sooner. If your child is not initially accepted he/she/they will be placed on the waiting list and you will be notified of this.
We thank you for your continued support and patience as we collectively work on creating a sustainable way to provide expanded learning programs to the community.
If you have any questions or need assistance completing registration please reach out.

The following is a message from Bay Area Community Resources (BACR):
On behalf of Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) it is with great pleasure that we introduce ourselves to the Hillcrest community as your Expanded Learning Program (ELP) provider for the 2022-23 school year. BACR is a regional nonprofit agency and our mission over the last 40 years has been to promote the healthy development of youth and families, encourage service and volunteerism, and build strong, collaborative and equitable communities. We have been providing academic support, enrichment, and physical activity based programming across the Bay Area since our inception and in Oakland since 2004. We are currently Oaklands largest after school provider. Our ELP mission statement is to “Empower Youth to Excel, Lead and Succeed”. To those ends, we promote young people’s holistic development by providing opportunities for them to acquire new skills, engage in creative learning, help plan and implement activities, and make meaningful contributions within their communities.
We would love for you to take a moment to check out our Facebook and Instagram pages to see some of the exciting adventures that happen in our programs. Also, check out our website to learn not only about our ELP programs, but also the diversity of other services our agency provides. These services include: National Service Programs, Mental Health services, Tobacco and Alcohol prevention, Healthy Communities and Schools and Workforce industries. You can also check out our blog!
Our Information Night will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022 @ 6:00pm via Zoom [see recording here]. During this time you will have the opportunity to learn more about the work we do and more importantly, provide answers to your questions. You will also be provided with the information you will need to register your child for the 2022-23 school year.
We understand this news has come late in the school year and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition. We have a lot to learn from one another over this time and anticipate many questions and a few bumps in the road. Please know we will do our best to make this time easy and tangible for all. If you have additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us while we work to secure your permanent BACR program coordinator. Email us here (specify the school name) or you can leave a message at (510) 559-3025.

Welcome to Pandemonium!

Hillcrest’s biggest fundraiser of the year, our annual auction, is now underway at https://hillcrestauction2020.ggo.bid! This year’s online-only affair features perennial favorites like wine and in-person parties, and introduces new categories like virtual events and at-home experiences. Additionally, any Raise Your Paddle donation this year will enter you into the raffle for our Pandemic Survival Kit: over 40 bottles of wine, a Nintendo Switch for the kids, a $150 Doordash gift card, $200 in gift cards to local restaurants, and a Trader Joe’s snack pack.
The funds we raise this week will pay for our beloved staff, critical curriculum and school supplies, and important programs like library, art, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion efforts, so please give whatever you can!
Here’s what you need to know:

Visit the online auction at https://hillcrestauction2020.ggo.bid!
If you haven’t registered yet, here’s how to get set up:

Click “Get Started”
If you participated in the 2019 online auction: Log in and you’ll be prompted to confirm your online bidding setup and re-enter your credit card information.
If you didn’t participate in the 2019 online auction: You’ll be prompted to sign up and your email should be verified within an hour.
When you register, you’ll be asked to provide a valid credit card but you won’t be automatically charged. Once the auction ends, we’ll send you a final invoice of your purchases for review and you’ll be able to pay via check or credit card.

The auction opens for registration and preview on Monday, November 9th. Bidding will begin Tuesday, November 10th at 8:30am.
All bidding is anonymous! (You’ll be assigned a bidder number when you register.)
Virtual parties are being sold at a fixed price this year (available just until sold out!) so don’t miss out on the opportunity to secure your spot! (Those are listings #301-318.)
In-person parties will be shown as one listing per available spot (e.g., if a party can accommodate 10 individuals, it’ll be shown as 10 different listings). Choose one to bid on, or “favorite” all available spots to keep an eye on the price.
Bidding ends this Sunday, November 15th at 9pm!
