Save the date! Saturday November 1, 2008 all Heroes for Hillcrest will be gathering at a not-so-top-secret location, The Claremont Resort & Spa, to join in a mission for excellence in education at Hillcrest.

Super Hero Decoder Ring Translation:  Why is This Important?

The Annual Benefit is Hillcrest’s most significant fundraising event of the year.  The proceeds from the event fund programs like music, art, language and more, not currently supported by the Oakland Unified School District.

The benefit is also a fun evening where just for one night you can play your favorite hero…real or make-believe. Think Batman…Wonder Woman…Mr. Incredible. Or if spandex isn’t your thing, try Mia Hamm…Venus Williams…Michael Phelps (whoops, he wears spandex too).

You can start being a hero right now by donating an item/experience and volunteering for jobs that we need your help with now.

Be a Volunteer Hero - We need help for everything from soliciting businesses for advertising, sponsorships, items, services, etc. to stuffing envelopes, data entry, delivery of items and much, much more. Short of time? Worry not, we have the superhero talent of being able to find a job to fit in your schedule!

Be a Donation Hero - In order to have a successful event, we need donations of every kind from all families.  This is your license to be creative. Some of the most successful items are the things money can’t normally buy. For inspiration, see our list of donation ideas.

Are Our Kids Heroes Too?

You bet! In addition to family donations, each middle school student is asked to make a donation, such as babysitting or dog walking services. Plus, each class is asked to make two donations: a Class Art Project and a Class Basket. We need help organizing and planning these class projects, so if you’d like to assist in the classroom, we still need you!

Hero Helpers

There are many Heroes already working hard behind the scenes. If you’d like to learn how to lift a car on one finger…or just help with the benefit, feel free to reach out to any of the following members of the Hero Lead Team. We need your help now!
