4th/5th Grade Field Trip

Coloma

Dear Families,

We will be heading back to Coloma this year (traditionally 4/5 overnights alternate between Marin Headlands, where our 4th graders went last year, and Coloma). There will be more information in the coming weeks, but here are the basics:

  • Coloma Outdoor Discovery School’s 3-Day Gold Rush program.
  • We will leave on buses on the morning of Wednesday Nov. 5th, and return in the afternoon on Friday Nov. 7th. Mark your calendars!
  • Students will have a chance to connect with history by spending “a day in the life of a gold miner,” as well as connecting with nature at the nearby Gold Discovery Historical State Park.
  • This program is a great introduction to the school overnight experience (for kids and adults!) because the student to chaperone ratio is small and the cabins are temperature controlled.
  • We are going to need at least 10 male and 10 female chaperones, so please consider signing up. All chaperones must be cleared as Unsupervised Volunteers with OUSD. If you need to start the process or check your status you can do so here.
  • I’m also looking for a couple people to help with behind-the-scenes logistics, especially a 4th grade parent who might be interested in leading the Marin Headlands trip next year.

As with all activities at Hillcrest, every student can attend the overnight regardless of payment. To help offset costs we will be fundraising, starting with a Mingle and Dine Out at Arthur Mac’s on September 9th. This will be a chance for the new 4/5 class to meet and mingle, as well as raise some money for a great cause.

We hope to see you all there!
